Celebrate Ontario 2013 Application Opens

Ontario Government Strengthening Local Economies through Festivals and Events

Ontario is supporting festivals and events in Markham-Unionville that will boost tourism, generate greater economic activity and welcome new visitors to the region.

Celebrate Ontario 2013 is now open for applications launched through Grants Ontario, a new secure web-based application system providing one-window access for users. This support helps festivals and events enhance programing and services that strengthen local economies, create jobs and foster a better quality of life for local families.

In 2012 Celebrate Ontario funding supported 203 festivals and events across the province, including the Markham Jazz Festival here in Markham-Unionville.

Supporting Ontario’s tourism sector is part of the Ontario government’s plan to build a stronger economy and create jobs for families across the province.

“Celebrate Ontario helps festivals and events enhance their programs, attract new audiences to their communities, and create more jobs for Ontarians. Festivals and events are an important pillar in our tourism industry, encouraging residents and visitors alike to explore our exciting province, experience our unique culture and strengthen our economy.”
